vicarz: (Riddle me this)
Sadly I'm skipping the gym, the beer garden, any friends, running outside, pretty much everything so I can do chores on the computer. I'm not even going to home depot - I just want to goof off right here. Bad. At least after days of chores I feel more in control of my life.

Brief meeting with Jordan today:

It looks a lot like we're only 50 days away from moving in. Not from being done, but from moving in.

1. Socks. Floors - Watch it upstairs - will be clear-coating soonish, and that will make the upstairs socks-only until it's 2 coats and dry enough to put down paper (not just dry, but past chemical reaction time). Humidity may effect this. I looked at the stained floors and they look awesome. The various wood really stands out - it looks old and jumbled in a good way.
2. Network cable - may put outside for security camera to view the yard. Could just do wireless, but I always like wires. Shit, ask me what I'm going to do for a doorbell...
3. Exterior doors - I may swap the prior fancy glass pattern doors I had picked for the same type that the french doors have (only not french). The in-window blinds seem to make up for a lot of options (and are reasonably priced). Issues: type, paintable, what color I think I want?
4. PAINT - COLORS I need to pick some. Consider view outside when picking inside colors! Consider number of colors for each part when picking outside. The fact there were pictures of my house online where it was red...may be related to the fact it used to be painted red. Paint is tough to get off brick to get down to brick, but paint does protect the grout.
5. Stairs, not sure if they should be the color of the railing (dark) or the flooring (light/honey) though probably going with white backs.
6. Tile - strong ideas in place, waiting for samples / links from Jordan / wife. Note - colored grout (varies per tile / bathroom).
7. Bathroom fixtures - waiting for samples on those too. I struck out on trying to find shower bar stations on hudsonreed (and frankly on another wall radiator too), but pulled pictures of marbled patterns on traditional shapes (subway tiles and octagons do well as marbled tiles) - Jordan digs the pics too.
8. Exposed brick - waiting on stain samples for shared wall; wall with glue on it pending tests on cleanup when scraped off (doesn't have to be perfect) .
9. Toilets, always toilets. It turns out you can't use wax rings with heated floors (did I mention I have radiant heat going in the bathrooms?) so they have to be rubber anyway.

Guess I'll spend some time trolling houzz tonight. I should troll houses and see if I can steal any color schemes I like.

Nekkid?

vicarz: (Want a back rub?)
This year my hormones about exploded when the change of season came, as spring was skipped and we went straight from parkas to naked. When suddenly everyone is all skin exposed - it just blows my id. It takes a while before I calm down and get used to seeing everyone running around naked. I still see the open backs, the cheek beneath the shorts, the diving neckline, the translucent shirts with tiny black bras underneath - but unless it's over the top I'm kind of used to it.

I find it annoying that I'm so caught up in staring at everyone. At least now I have a girlfriend I can sort of play dress-up with, but I don't want to be looking at every naked person I see. For some reason the girlfriend doesn't walk around naked to get attention from strangers - weird but that's not her thing. Truth - I never really did that either, outside of a club. The number of people I've seen on the street and slept with is very small.

Same goes for the gym - where lots of hotbod folks walk around naked. In this I include the odd male nipple display for very-open shirts. You never see those on strong men, just skinny ones and sometimes a gay body builder. I saw a girl, not bad looking, lying on the bench with an open-backed shirt yesterday. Can you imagine what kind of biology she was smooshing into the pores of her skin that way?

I used to argue with others about how Latinos are not just slutty - when you're from a tropical climate you can't wear much, so you don't and when everyone does it then it's not a big deal. I'm finding that in the city - people appear really scantily clad, but of course they are. They're probably walking and biking to 8 different places in 12 hours through the day, and may not have (good) a/c. After sweating 8 hours, they may be naked in many places, but they're also ripe - or even fermented. Salty is not sexy. So yeah, lots of naked people in an urban environment - they be just trying not to sweat.

Or they're wonderfully adept sluts, but why should I care? I'm trying to move on.
