vicarz: (Want a back rub?)
So for once surgery for someone else!

Veronica got ACL surgery, being both injured and very athletic. Ooh-rah. We arranged for me to the caretaker, from the pre-surgery grocery shopping run to Trader Joe's to the scheduling work at home options. I took her into the office, but they wouldn't let me go into the pre-surgery room with her...so I gifted her with the surprise "baby goat anatomy" hard copy (we've been saying cutie tucks a lot lately). I got to see her in recovery, try to absorb all the information and instructions, then while she was wheeled around, drive the car to the front to pick her up. We found her apt building has a loaner wheelchair (really!?) and unashamedly used it to cart her into bed.

So I'm the guy in the apron. I'm totally cool with it - not just because you can easily pin a cute ribbon to the front, but because I have no problem holding a credit balance on a relationship.

But the past few days have been cooking (UGH), getting little things in little trips, a confused but concerned cat, and pain killers (some for her, some for me) (and then I got more beer). Like me, her ride is...shorter than you might expect and she's recovering super fast. She's also a stupid easy patient - she apologizes constantly and I'm having to convince her having me do things is ok.

So we did a crazy weekend full of beer, trips, good, wine, and beer (did I mention beer) and now we're stuck in the house with reading, intrawebs, therapy, and...probably no fireworks but I'm totally getting bbq carry-out. I also surprised her today with pride rainbow cake pops. So she seems not unhappy with me right now, but she's also on opiates so her opinions are suspect.

HOUSE
So I stopped by and not much has happened - the windows are in, but the doors are not, the grading isn't, the floors aren't sanded so there are no test stain patches, there are no test stain patches on the brick...nothing is really happening. Jordan's wife was scheduled to deliver on Thur so that may be what's happening, but why that prevents some workers from working I'm not so sure. Going to see what happens, or doesn't, the week after July 4. But the 2-3 weeks build time? Extended for windows and doors...my god how long has it been?
