Janna and I broke up. About a week ago now.
Yes again.
This time I would say without a reasonable chance of getting back together; we did that last time and nothing changed.

No fighting, no cheating, no drama - which is probably part of why we stayed together so long. My friends all like her, though there was a consensus that we were just not compatible.

It's not listed on fb yet. It will be, but no rush.

So I pinged my contractor after noticing...I was still homeless. He called me, called him back and he reports:

1. 3rd party inspection was REJECTED; DC won't allow it because once you start with DC, you finish with DC.
2. They are taking him to task because the property is being split. The permits were treating the house as one house, but now that they've latched onto the separate units and electrical split, they're requiring all the permits to be replaced to show separate diagrams for upper and lower units.
3. Plus side - he says I'm going to have a COO (certificate of occupancy) at the start, where before that was going to be my sole responsibility. He also says normally that would be another 15 grand; I noted the $200 in fees for a COO for residents - he says this is a totally different animal, that usually this would require an attorney. I'm not sure I understand that one.
For example, I'll have 3625 and 3625.5, or b, or whatever I want to call it. I see a lot of unit "b" basements - but maybe there is a difference between slapping a b on the wall and having an address of record.
4. Minus - automatic 90 day hold on the basement.
5. Plus - they can still finish the top, even have all the utilities and stuff from the basement, and I could move in.

We covered some other things - he wants some design decisions on remaining items like tile, but wasn't ready for any now because he's sunk over a week in the permitting issue (he sounds pissed, says he is). He warned me he'll be plowing through the place when he's able to - apparently the part he likes is doing all the finishing, the touches, that are all held up. He said the a/c is ok and the property was visited by the a/c guy - and yes he has diagrams.

In fact he says at the end I'll have over 15 diagrams - I could wallpaper with them.
