A short time ago my 2nd line boss, acting as boss, accused me of being unprofessional, unclear, and "telling senior counsel black letter law." That was a conference with OGC; this time he volunteered I could contact my peers who were present and solicit their opinions. I did, both said absofuckinglutely not, I was professional and clear. They were surprised and confused by the raised issue.

Curiously today we got the recommended course of action from OGC on the matter we consulted on in that call, and they completely and utterly missed the ball. The boss reacted professionally but nearly dismissively - and it was appropriate because the recommendation was so completely off the mark and showed a stunning ignorance of the matters to be addressed. Absolutely stunning.

The more people I encounter, the more confident I become in my abilities.

Still, the man who blasts rude emails from his bb as if fired from the john continues to simultaneously be an unprofessional micromanaging bully (though it really comes across as autism more than abuse) makes accusations of professionalism - often in degrading and unprofessional ways.

I have 10 years of experience here - I'm not unfamiliar with the concept of being wrong and rewarded for 10 years, but here the question is whether I treat staff with respect. That is not subject to question as the measuring stick is, typically, the people I work with - and even he concedes, while he says he doesn't understand how, feedback about me is consistently high from all sources (except the Union president, but that is no criticism - even from him).

Things are actually going better here, but he continues to have a top down, ask no questions, respond to any pushback or even questions with threats "I'll just take flexiplace away if you don't shut up." /vent
