House took a week long nothing for my failure of a trip to Atlanta, originally a trip to TX (hence failure). If I ever get the energy and time I'll write it up, but...my god we're all just days of routine hygiene from ... I didn't know things about myself I now wish I didn't know.
I haven't checked out the house much - I stopped by, still heart my warm radiators, but my main focus remains just get the basement digout, roof, and floors done.
Floors - started through the basement to wood (planks? 2.5 " maybe?) across the beams, wondering if the parquet is on top of something else. Worried about asbestos, but overall I need to get off my ass and get something moving.
Roof - pinged the roofer for a bid, he promised it soon, texted him my email
Digout - I owe my contractor a better reply (last was "lost my internet, work travel, may be delayed") but I'm soliciting other contractors:
USA contractors, talked to a guy there then got another call, tagged them today.
Found a guy through our real estate mgt company, but he sounds...I'm not sure. He talks a lot, he _is_ his company. However for a visit, even if he bids and is not strong looking or too expensive, I suspect I'd learn things listening to him. Or who knows, he may be awesome and bid great plus be insured etc.
But I need to move this shit along - I've decided 1. Roof, 2. Floors, 3) basement...then I can move in.
This means the bathrooms, kitchen, and house stay as-is until all things are up and running, collecting income, etc. When I live in DC and have stabilized my situation, all the wanna situations can be addressed (one exception - dishwasher in the kitchen is a must).
But I'm too tired right now. On the plus side, I ran out of coffee until my suitcase arrived - with the coffee I ground just for the trip. This was going to be my first trip with my ground coffee and portable coffee press...
