Dec. 30th, 2011 04:15 pmToday I benched 225 free-weight bench for the first time. Whew.
I may have done it last ... 4 weeks ago, but my friendly spotter had his hands on the bar the whole time so I couldn't trust that it was me that got the lift. Today there was no ambiguity - it went up once, not fast, but strong. I tried for #2 and it was worth trying but didn't happen.
So I've achieved the goal that set me off into the world of olympic lifts in the first place. I didn't used to do squats, then I didn't do them free weight, then I learned about deadlifts and other madness. Frankly my other achievements in the gym are far more impressive than the pointless lie-on-your-back lift everyone talks about, but it's really nice to see that old marker fall behind me.
Per those who lead - my new goal is not 275, 315, or 10 reps at 225. It is 230 once. And so on.
But now it's time to celebrate by trying to accumulate some more forum gold in diablo east realm! Power nerding!
