Apr. 27th, 2011 04:56 pmI am high as a kite and disgusting.
Went gym. Hurt. No A/C, far more than the breezy 80F outside. Water dripping down the walls was pooling and rusting weights. Big weight day, new goal - not a peanut butter but a pb for a long time. Attempted DL 345 for 1. Did 3 and maybe could have done more. Why my squat earlier this week was only 275 for 2 I can't explain. Hands hurt good.
I hate the handshake game. Men judge by handshakes. More than once I've faced attorneys who beat me at the handshake game by closing their hand fast so I wind up with half my hand locked - unable to give a strong squeeze. It's a trick to try and make you mad or feel shame. I smile every time it happens because I realize this person thinks I will care (I should practice looking mad). "Oh no, you beat me at the handshake game!? That'll certainly change the crucial facts that keep your client from prevailing in this litigation!"
That said, I'm finding I'm almost a little judgmental about how soft everyone's hands feel. I have growing callouses from picking up ugly metal. Sometimes it looks like I might work for a living. I used to take pride in how soft my hands were.
Leaving the gym I saw some latino guys scraping paint. I was glad I was not them. I may lift weights, but that shit looked hard.
