National and world news is an interesting contrast right now. In the US of A, SCOTUS just ruled that the wacko funeral protesters are merely engaged in legal free speech, however hurtful and distasteful.

By contrast is the assassination of the last remaining living minister in Pakistan who did not support the "anti-defamation" laws which require death of anyone saying anything negative about islam, mohammad, or the koran.

This follows the murder of several moderate clerics and a muslim minister who was killed by his own bodyguard, now regarded by many as a hero, who shot him based on this similar failure to support the death penalty for "blasphemy."
People criticizing the law point out it's more used opportunistically to target minorities and requires scant evidence to generate a conviction (think Salem witch trial).

I'd like a way to say the direct assault of a funeral was not political speech protected by law, but I'll take that over the country of Pakistan which was designed specifically around the concept of religious tolerance - but is being bullied by islamic fundamentalists.

My personal bad news is that google updated their pedometer. Why bad news for me? It turns out when you auto-round all my turns to follow the paths I run on more closely, I'm running miles less than I thought. My 4 mile run was only 3.5 miles. I ran it during the 61 degree weather today and it was painful - thank god I didn't time the run. Someone lie to me and say I'm good at this...
