The republicans are screaming about the rush to "push through" SALT, but it was actually a concession by the democrats to a request of the republicans to push SALT ratification until now - ironically at the time they argued to avoid political posturing (at the election). Now the republicans are calling the "rush," created by the republicans, political posturing by the democrats. It's shameless, but we're talking about the party proud to present Palin to the teaparty.
Lesson the left never learns: concessions to wingers yield no compromises.
So I'm moving from avoidance to scrooge. Look - NOT LIKING XMAS DOES NOT MAKE YOU SCROOGE. Scrooge is ruining xmas for others. Many of us not-xmasers are perfectly happy to let you people enjoy your xmassy selves; in my case working over the holidays allows others to enjoy their traditions. I don't hurt their xmas, I enhance it - on purpose and by request.
When I start to convert and cuss is after about 3 weeks of mall music and television "specials." Have your xmas, put up your lights and pagan trees - fine, but the constant shouting, the mix-mash-ups of pop stars ruining xmas songs, the constant blare -LOUD- of xmas music, stoofoo already. I just want to not xmas, but I can't avoid the stuff. I still watch actual tv, I still shop in stores, and cannot avoid the abuse. I have cut multiple shopping trips short due to not only xmas music, but awful pop xmas remashup music played painfully loud. I've tried to watch non-xmas tv, but every show from south park to the entirety of adult swim is swimming in xmas parody. I don't want to mock xmas, see it in my own funky way, rape xmas dry, or at least I didn't used to want to - I just want to not xmas. Get your fucking xmas out of my ass. Is that so much to ask?
Yes. It's like xtianity - any attempt to avoid, or any complaint about the loud broadcasts, is an assault on the basic freedoms of xtians to constantly broadcast their status.
