You know how I was mocking those nutty "surveys" I was getting from the right wing? Well, I got one from the left the other day. Unlike the right wing, it was not full of threats, fear, and misquoted "facts." In fact...it's downright rational.

Some quotes:
"How do you rate President Obama's performance in addressing the nation's economic situation?"
"How do you rate the Obama Administration's efforts to hand over responsibility to the Iraqi people?"
"Please rank the following 13 national issues by their level of priority..."

Now, the end is the usual plea for money - but it's incredible how different this is from the nut-jobs in the tea party or the republicans. How can you not be partisan when one side acts like a bunch of loons, lies, and has a base of hate-filled terrified illiterate support?

I am going on a date tonight. My season 3 & 4 Samurai Jack disks arrived, and I'm sick of stressing over life-altering stuff so...I'm having a date night tonight. Alone.
I've had lots of these...

The interview was...meh.
I did ok, but I didn't do a good job of keeping my answers short. I made good eye contact (2 of 3 of them, however, did not). They asked about work, and were concerned when I honestly answered I wasn't totally into labor law compared to MSPB and EEO. They 'got' my background quickly.

They asked how many hearings I had ever done - I had to think about it, then noted how long I've been doing the work since frankly it isn't that many hearings.

The huge possible benny is...they aren't fighting with the union. At all. They have NO arbitrations scheduled at all...they just discuss and collaborate. Unbelievable. They're...civilized?

I asked about dress, but didn't need to as on a Friday afternoon they were wearing button down shirts (oh gee, but it's dress-down day so no tie). I typically wear a polo and lately I'm wearing skull sneakers.
I asked about their schedules - 3 days a week, or 4, they are expected to be in the office "to answer questions." Got a phone, bitch? In fact, it occurs to me I'd lose $50 monthly for a phone bill if I left and gave up my office cell phone.
They do collaborate, reviewing each other's work, using PARALEGALS, and doing some work in teams.

I am equiv to between a step 5 and 6 of my grade. Just above step 6 is the bottom of the next grade - so basically I would probably make AS MUCH MONEY WHERE I AM after the next pay raise than with them. The pay for performance experiment is slotted to take place for 5 years, so I stand to make far more money as a lower graded employee than a higher graded employee.

Short version - it sounds far more formal climate wise, friendlier, challenging, but the money might be a slight decrease despite the higher grade.
Sleeping on it. And by sleeping I mean watching cartoons and having a couple drinks alone.
