Jan. 19th, 2010 07:40 amIn other news, we went to http://www.woodberrykitchen.com/ last night and saw the laid-back emo guy from Ace Of Cakes (food network pr0n) sitting at the bar! Food was good, but I think I prefer http://www.abacrombie.net/ (plus they have coupons on restaurant.com) The big win was on the ambiance - it was a gorgeous converted old mill with very nice industrial touches everywhere - including giant lightbulbs with giant filaments. The drinks were yummy but not strong. They had flatbread thingys, but if you've been to http://www.willowva.com/ you'll find theirs are better. Janna got the swordfish and it was just amazing though - perfectly prepared, complimented by a tasty sweet potato something or other. The deserts were not to be missed. She got a chocolate pudding I wanted to steal - rich but not overwhelming, with very sophisticated and complex chcolate flavor. I got the flourless chocolate cake with a mint chocolate ice cream and chocolate sorbet. I'm not generally a fan of chocolate sorbet or even gelato (overhyped) but their sorbet knocked me on my ass - it was very well flavored with the most perfect infusion of orange - subtle and yet distinct flavors. The cake itself was good if not extraordinary, along with it's ganache, but it all worked well together.
