Gay is the new black.
Nov. 5th, 2008 05:22 amI don't quite understand watching live results - I knew when I went to bed the answer was already out there - the only thing missing was the formal count. Win or lose (each election, not just the prez) the answer would be the same today. I would still get up, eat toast, and go to work.
Sorry California. Even the most liberal state has its share of hate. If racism can't be claimed because we have a black president, does that make gay the new black?
I'm curious that so many feel the urge to write about it. Looking over my little LJ list I think this is why it's called a community - sure we're apart, but there is some connection. People reach out with their writing, feel they hear others with theirs. Neat.
I hear that McCain gave a great concession speech. He was never a bad choice, just not as good as Obama in my opinion. Take that graceful gesture as an opportunity to stop the name calling, the us-them mentality, and try to keep focused on the issues. This was a close election - nobody gets a "mandate," even for change.
Now that the election is over - keep watching the news, local, national, and international. There will be another election in 2 years, and 2 years after that. If you don't like the presidential choices, then you need to help give us better choices starting at the state level where these presidential choices originate.
Today's woot shirt is friggin awesome. Get?
