Jan. 16th, 2006 03:51 pmHappy MiLK day, a day on, not a day off.
My favorite geeky video game message board has died: bye bye VGS.
Interesting article that shows a lack of empathy (ie republican) is probably a birth defect:

I just saved a lot of time realizing that I don't qualify for this amazing job opportunity:
HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST (DEU) GS-0201-12/14 $65,048-$118,828
Job Announcement Number: MSPB-2006-0006 Merit Systems Protection Board (aka)
HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST (MP) GS-0201-13/14 $77,353-$118,828
ANNOUNCEMENT NUMBER: MSPB-2006-0004 Merit Systems Protection Board
Sarah - this might be up your alley.
It looked perfect, but all the questions are about long-term research projects I have taken on and disseminated. I have no such experience, despite my MA in I/O Psyc and years of federal service in EEO/ER.
There is a Branch Chief, GS-14, position open in Departmental Administration, which only has a staff of about 1800 people. I've heard awful things about that group - my favorite insult being that the entire staff is there because they filed bogus EEO complaints and that is where they dump the trash. Of course that can't be true, but it is a political hotbed. They're held to a more professional appearance standard, while I'm quite comfortable wearing mock-turtlenecks from Target working across the street in "the island of misfit toys."
Money matters, but so does happiness. I am comfortable living beneath my means, so my desire to stick my neck out is greatly reduced. It's hard to justify going for a promotion while I'm in law school.
Back to job pondering and stock research...time to fund the Roth IRA...
