Dear (Professor):
I wonder if you would be open to a variation of the written format of the final paper. Specifically, I was thinking of expressing the disjoint between common law principles found in 4th amendment cases of privacy of physical packages in various states of transmission, and the current court interpretations of ECPA, through interpretive modern dance.

Yes I actually sent this email.

The response!

"I hate to stifle your creativity, but I like to review the papers more than once, so you shouldn't submit a dance project unless you're prepared to hang out in my study for a few days."

Did I mention he was funny!?

This is how it worked out:
I just finished a full draft of the paper of doom (as in I actually read through it and tried to make it somewhat coherent rather than just spewed out what I could in a fit of panic and half-assery) and emailed it to my funny professor. It is now 25 pages (minimum was 18 - I lied but why shoot for the minimum?) and contains 113 footnotes. I am not displeased with my work, though it is not as polished in the end as it is in the beginning. I'm annoyed that the paper is ready on-time for the original deadline, in fact far ahead if you realize how much work you could do on a Sunday, though they moved the deadline to Friday for all the other slackers. I am officially allowed to leave the house now.

When the paper makes it through the grading process I may find a way to put it on the net so others can see it. Of course, who the fuck would read it exactly? I just hate to work on something so long and so hard and not display it for all the world to see...you know, like my body...
