I think my ass just got saved - a friend sent me a good outline for my crim class. I don't have many friends in law school, but the couple I have save my butt. I used to wonder how this group of conservative kids did so well over me, until I realized a) they worked on "The Hill" and were allowed to do schoolwork on the clock, b) they networked and had comprehensive outlines when they started the classes. This left them with say...50% of the workload I was stuck with.
Unfair? Social networking skills are very important in the workplace. If someone is a subject matter expert that is dandy, but if you can't score clients then you're worthless. Colin was noting that intelligence isn't just knowing things, it's being able to use that knowledge and on a good day communicate it to others.
