I want to be black. Why? So I can say the N word. I hate things I'm not supposed to do - they give me a hard-on. I don't want to use it in the redneck with a rope way, I wanna be like "Yo, wazzup..." but no, alas, I'm just another wannabe. I use words like alas. That's that whole white-boy dream...all the down-underground mystique but with none of the negative ramifications. White kids listen to a little rap and they think they're "of the streets." Cul-de-sac crew.
I am black. We used to joke about how in the DoL cafeteria there were two pricing scales - the black woman ahead of you would have a tray full of food and her friend the cashier charged her $2.50. Your white-person salad bowl was mysteriously $8.47. I often get pasta from the cafeteria, and the black female who works there recognizes me. I tell her not to bother re-heating the stuff as many people like, and I never fuss over details like which veg's they throw in. She was giving this white guy in a suit a bunch of grief as he whined about whether or not the spaghetti looked like spaghetti, and she trashed him "We only have what you see here." She was as hostile as she could be w/o risking her job. Then she saw me and was all sunshine, instantly giving me everything I wanted as we talked about the nice day. Race, it's who you know?
