I'm not kidding - this is some seriously scary shit.
A federal judge has ordered a university to turn over records about a gathering of anti-war activists. In addition to records about who attended the forum, the subpoena orders the university to divulge all records relating to the local chapter of the National Lawyers Guild, a New York-based legal activist organization that sponsored the forum.
Why isn't anyone noticing this is past McCarthyism? I know I say alarmist things on a regular basis, but this seems much closer to the genuine article than any of the potentially damaging legal maneuvers of Ashcroft.

Sad how often it is lawyers are out there fighting the good fights when no one else will do it. Civil rights was in the courts long before the legislature moved on it.

I have the VD itch. Really.

I have seen and heard a lot of commercials. I see red and pink everywhere. I have money, watch media, and am American. I want love. So, I went shopping. I bought diamonds. I bought roses. I bought cards. I bought chocolate, the expensive kind in a ruffley box. I think I've pretty much done everything.

So where's the love? I am looking for the hot (i.e. tall, blonde, skinny, quiet, dumb) girl I'm supposed to be with. I've got all the stuff - now who do I give it to? It's like, I've paid for the moment, but I don't know when it is. I mean I guess it's 2/14, but what do I do? Where do I go? How do I meet this person I've paid so much for on credit?

If you're going to get fired

Here's a doozy:
1) be suspected of stealing prescription drugs from co-workers and private employees
2) have someone give an affadavit that you asked them to bring extra prescription medicine for you
3) get caught having sex with the minor child of a private employee you work with
4) offer the parent $5,000 to not press charges
5) be unaware that that parent contacted the IG who provided a tape recorder, and then make the offer again on tape. Be sure to also offer them the 'pink slip' to your truck as collateral
6) Speak with the IG about the allegations and give a sworn statement with attorney present, still unaware that they have the tape
7) have a bunch of people point out that the mysterious prescription drug disappearances all occurred when you were in the locker room alone
