(no subject)

I know it's overhyped, but I don't mind the hurricane coverage. It's interesting! It's going to do something or other, but even the preparations are fun to watch. I suppose the insane news coverage is a bad thing if this is all about fear, but if it's just general excitement is it so bad to run on about it? When I got stuck in Mel's for a blizzard, we watched the news stories non-stop. Maybe I'm weird? It's not fear, not in my case, it's just kinda interesting. Beats sports!

Moving on...

The miserable Admin. SomethingOrOther from my Department has gotten a new job! I told her, honestly, that I was happy for her. I'm subtley trying to give her advice about how to tackle the next part of her career.

She has been miserable and doing nothing but complain the entire time I've been here. I doubt that frown she shows is just for the benefit of the office, but that's another matter. I'm not sure what she is so unhappy about - she usually complains about being overworked, though it seems as though she has time for personal calls and the net...though recently when the network crashed she complained of not having enough to do. In any case, for the about a year that I've been here she's been a bundle of not-happy.

I'm happy for her. She finally took the steps to remedy her situation, so while she spent a lot of time 'bitching,' it wasn't just bitching - she addressed her problem. I've always told her it's no good to just complain w/o trying to fix the situation or escape from it. Glad she knows that!

I only hope she approaches her next endeavors in such a way that she doesn't cause more problems for herself.

I love my job

"The employee brought the fireworks into the plant. The employee apparently intended to place the fireworks in his locker and bring them home after work. There is no evidence or allegation that the employee intended or atempted any harm. The fireworks were some type of rocket. You light the fuse, and it goes in the air and goes boom."
