Once upon a time opinion polls were not instantaneous. Once upon a time politicians would watch the demonstrations on the streets, and may change their votes accordingly. Now we have tons of well-organized protests totally owning the press – yet no leaders care. Why? Opinion polls. The majority of the country supports the war. Why in the world would you care about a protest when the vast majority of your electorate supports the cause? The follow-up question is how far are we from majority rule? Could the US be a Christian only, English only country in a few decades? Might we invade Canada and Mexico as we colonize and expand our empire – in the name of maintaining our standard of living?

Why can't a crazy redneck on a tractor crash next to my building? Um, why does one crazy guy, claiming to have explosives (on a tractor - where would they be exactly?) shut down a 2 block radius in DC for 2 days!? Good overreacting god almighty...

UPDATE: they talked the loon out of the pond! Well I feel much more confident about my tax dollars at work now! That’ll show those nasty terrorists that one crazy old white guy can’t shut down the the only international superpower…unless he’s the president!

Why in the hell are the leaders of Iraq so defiant? I don’t understand this is all rhetoric - can anyone honestly think they’ll win? At ‘best’ they may cause serious casualties, they may make our forces take longer than expected, they may bust their own dams and burn oil wells…but I cannot fathom why anyone would pretend they could win or even survive. I know they speak with the full knowledge that defiance is death, but I’m curious how they get these showings of support.
