Feb. 26th, 2004 12:22 pmGod has his revenge.
So I was mandated to volunteer to attend a black history month presentation, which I went to with little complaint since when I was forced to go to the hispanic heritage thing I not only enjoyed it but got the great line of reasoning from the Surgeon General who noted that he got his Phd despite not being all that bright because he was willing to work harder to catch up with his smarter classmates. There's my mantra - make up with effort what you lack in brains.
In any case, god invaded the room. I hate god. Well, something has to exist for you to hate it, but I hate the fact that not only was I forced to attend this meeting, but that the meeting was FULL of god messages. God this, god that, thank oh god lord savior god lala god. This was annoying, in god we trust, but then to make it even worse...gospel. Oh my GOD i hate gospel. I think if gospel was about raspberry jam rather than JEBUS I would still hate it, but it's about god. I sat through one session, but when they reconvened for round two of god-down-the-throat-through-gospel, I ducked out. I'll probably be in the doghouse for walking out, but GOD makes me ill.
Does hating gospel make you a racist? If so, I have problems. I hate gospel (black), country (white), chinese opera (asian)...
An important note on another subject:
Brown v. Board of Ed was decided on May 17, 1954 by the Supreme Court in a unanimous decision. 50 years ago Separate but Equal was declared unconstitutional. Today, rather than suffer the will of the masses being imposed upon again, our leaders are choosing to change the constitution itself so that minorities can continue to face separate but equal, this time the players gay and the battlefield marriage. Here's hoping one aspect of history repeats itself, some 50 years later with the lesson still not learned.
