clearances are a pain. you have to at least put someone down as a reference who knew you at said time period, not necessarily attended school or lived with you or what ever.
i never did get my clearance. guilt by assosiation, apparently. i was never denied, though. i got out of there before i got denied which is worse than just giving up. good luck
