Well, I've now been in touch with the former pres of the GALLA which stands for whatever the gay group at GMU law was. It's sounding like there is little response and interest, so I might be stuck with a leadership role. I've already identified one advantage I have as a gay-group leader: I'm 100% out and open. I suppose the drawback is...not gay! Does dating bisexual girls count?

I'm pretty into the issue, and since I'm out that does put me in an unusual role for a law-school attendee. Law is one of those lovely areas where discrimination of all forms is still quite rampant. I could represent for people who may not want their faces to be identified with the issue at this time. I'm also not like a new out type...running around in a rainbow thong and Docs. At least, not this time of year!

I mentioned that I would be willing but not eager to take a leadership role and joked "What a stereotypical non-committal bisexual..." He laughed at that, as he and his male partner of 5 years also call themselves bi. He beat me on the non-committal part!

Act #1 - make sure the name includes not just gays/lesbians, but bi, trans, curious, supporters, sexually indiscriminate, cross-dressing, fashionably bi, experimenting until graduation, mad at their parents, cute, cuddly, emos, elmos, marmosets, and monkeys (preferably bonobos).

The unexpected advantage I've run into is that I may now have access to previous exams, class outlines, and other materials! It seems this group did have a decent database of all that...who knew!
