On second thought

Don't mean to be all judgey about the gym. Obviously - I am.

BUT - the issue I likely have is many of these folks are "showing off," trying to look strong. I have probably not got the strength to judge, but understand I have no problem with anyone who is trying (failing is an option). I'm not judging whether people are good, strong, fit, or whatever - I have a bit of an issue with people taking up equipment and making very public displays, on purpose, to try and impress people.

Even so, easily ignored and for this dialogue, it's not like I'm saying anything to these people.

Strong lifters and good runners usually don't look around and have headphones in so they'll be left alone. Me, I'd love to talk, giving and receiving advice, but I generally don't say anything to people. I do wear funny t-shirts which start a lot of conversations.

coz I'm an attention-whore.

I feel totally invisible in the gym, which I guess is good for concentrating, but also makes me feel beneath the notice of all the he-men. I tried headphones but they play their own (annoying) music and it all just collides in my sweaty brain.

I don't wear headphones and brag that I can even lift to horrible music. It can be a challenge.
