I just managed, and was acting the role of manager.

We need votes for the bylaw amendment and have enough. I went to visit with the employee, who is many years my senior. And knows it. And probably finds me annoying. I'm wondering if my assessment that he has more positives than negatives is currently accurate. I'm trying super hard to be nice, but not sugar coating the fact we don't have the votes and I made a plan of action to fix that.

I took the lists provided and typed them into 1 simple list of "not yes votes who live on the property." I said I would go knock on doors, all of them myself, to try and get the yes votes.

He hemmed and hawed, possibly defensive and highlighting all the stories about who he talked to, complaints about the management company, questions about whose job it was, and useless today suggestions such as changing the bylaws to have a lower threshold to change the bylaws. Hint - the issue here is whether we can charge people who are late paying the fees.

I finally pointed out that all those issues could be addressed later but in over a month we did not have 1 list to hand the board, and the board had volunteered to do the work, but nobody had gotten the board the list to work with. Hem...haw...and I said well we can address that later.

In short, fuck your insecurities whether they're ill or well fucking founded. I don't care anymore, if you're insecure do your part and stop talking about how much you theoretically shouldn't have to because other people theoretically could have done xyz.

Plan:
1. You coordinate the information you say is inaccurate. Today. Now.
2. This weekend I will waste my fucking holiday weekend knocking on doors to try and get votes.
3. If we haven't reached quorum by then, then get me a list with information I can make sense of, I will waste more of my personal private time typing the fucking information on a fucking spreadsheet so we can get it to board members and try to get the last votes we need via phone and emails.

So I'm a manager. I like the guy and am aggravated with him, and possibly our management company, but that's not relevant as there is a problem that needs solving within deadlines. Here is the plan, it's now an instruction.

On top of all else, for the profanities laced herein, I'm only showing aggravation if its involuntary - I'm not cursing, not cutting anyone off, and not blaming anyone. I'm just getting less responsive to the stories, hearing them out, then suggesting a course of action. At the end, bullet-pointing the plan.

I don't feel like I'm being unreasonable but I hate that I'm being forced to act like a manager.
