eee!! I love the big broadcast! dave & I listen to it most sundays, especially when we/I've gone to my dad's for dinner and have a longer drive home in the evening.
they played one a few weeks ago that had me sitting in my driveway w/the radio on in the car so I could hear how it ended. it was about a woman who'd been cleaning up the house and discovered a letter that proved her husband's innocence. he was scheduled to be killed for his crime (that she knew he didn't do but couldn't prove until now) at midnight - in like, 45 mins from the time she discovered the letter.
the whole piece was her calling around, first to the jail to tell them she'd found the proof, then to the judge's house to get him to call the jail to tell them to cancel the execution, then to california to try and find the judge at a restaurant cuz he was out of town, then several other places - all the while time is ticking by and she's pleading with the operator to please hurry she only has 10 minutes, 5 minutes, 2 minutes until her husband is killed, please please connect the call, please please pick up, etc etc...
it got very intense, it sucked me in, and I would totally listen to it again. LOVE it. no special effects needed; just damn good acting.
