News

Barbie is skanky.

Or Canary.

Boy survives plane crash, sole survivor, and gains magical powers. Shakes hands with doctor, then predicts his death. Sees dead people.

Oil spill? It cracked me up that the news was reporting the "finger pointing" of the execs related to the oil spill. I'm thinking...it really is the problem of the safety valve - at first the criticism was "Why only one? Why not more safety devices?" This is like asking me, if my brakes fail in my car, why I didn't have 2 independent brake systems operating in my car. Then again, airplanes have redundant systems due to the consequences of failure - perhaps an oil spew is a consequence to demand redundant systems. As of today, they're finding many performance problems with the operation of the well...so it's actually not clear to me where fault lies. Still, congressmen parading in front of the cameras to look like the good guys, attacking bad guys, don't interest me.

Are the republicans taking any heat for their huge push to get offshore drilling after this mess? Is Obama taking heat for his reversal on this issue shortly before this disaster?

You do have independent brake systems in your car. First off, if the power-boost fails, you can still brake by just mashing hard. Second, you have the parking brake, which is a simple mechanical lever and less prone to failure. There are various electronic safeguards like ABS on newer cars. And, of course, you can always put it in neutral or kill the engine.

That link just goes to the Barbie picture, should it?

Barbie is...into BDSM? Complete with bullwhip, wrist restraints, and nipple clamps? Hot wax kit &buttplugs sold separately.

One could only dream that Mattel would be that progressive.

What pisses me off about the media coverage is that attempts to find out who is at fault for serious disasters with long term detrimental consequences are treated like children arguing about who stole a red crayon and fed it to the kindergarten hamster. There seems to be a feeling that we all share the blame for everything so no one person has to be punished, 'don't worry they feel bad enough already'.
