Forgot to mention that we got a permit for yesterday's protest, and while there the police showed up along with the media vans. One of the police officers (ugh, cop!) came up to me and said hi - I know him! He's in my condo assoc and comes to meetings sometimes, so we talked to say hi and about the upcoming condo meeting and stuff. I think it calmed a couple student's nerves to see a friendly conversation between one of the supervising officers and one of the protest "organizers." (I didn't do much compared to some of our other members).
