Well - that was that, mostly goodbye eljay from work. I'm already having a hard time keeping up so I'm skimming your heart-felt thoughts...but now since the cornfucker virus scare they have pulled back even more internet stuff from work and eljay has no pictures...no pictures, no embedded video, no icons...but that doesn't stop it from trying to load all that, so each page I load takes about 5 mins. It's not blocked per se, but might as well be at 5 mins a page-load.

Thye're also talking about taking away the ability to move files to or from the network entirely, i.e. no disks or usb drives will work. I may pull all my work (already backed up weekly) and use my own computer equipment 100% and only use their system for email.

Not loving it, not one bit. Yay restrictive government. Yay paranoia about taxpayer dollars. Yay people monitoring computer usage for "wasting time" while the executives hang out in the cafeteria and read their newspapers cover to cover without being questioned.

Yay me bitching when I have a job at all that pays well...

But I may appear on eljay much less. Shit, between losing this here and murky coffee going bye-bye...huh.

you open yourself up to liability if you use your own equipment, especially if that equipment gets stolen or compromised when you have sensitive case information on it.

tell your browser to not attempt to load images.

There was an Austrailian university study (I forget which) that actually concluded that those who actually browsed the internet at work (keeping it under 20% of the work time, which is a LOT in my opinion) were actually 9% more productive than those who didn't. It helped people reset and refocus.

At least you GET the internet at work! Me? Not so much!
