Thanks for the tips on the monitor: Oddly, I ordered the part again from dell, they overnighted it ($2 part, $5 shipping) even though I asked for 3-5 shipping (hooray!) and the thing worked perfectly. So china is 0/2 on parts right now, their adapter didn't work on the same setup the dell thing did (note, dell part "made in china"), and the male-to-male (eztransfer) usb cable was sent male-to-female. Perhaps they were trying to conform to US law.
Last night I went to exposure for the first time. The music was pretty good all night, though boy do djs fuss about the mixing. I could give a rat's ass about the technical mixing skill - give me someone who transitions the music types any day. Nice people, but a small crowd (I hear that was an anomaly. The basement though - GORGEOUS. I love love love the entire place being dark and looking like a cave. However, I can't avoid noting the horrible smell - I got a headache it was so bad, reeking of sewage. I can't talk around it, can't put a positive spin on it, can't...just can't. It smelled horrible and there was no escape. Incredible that a club owner would put such effort into visual presentation and blow it all with a foul stench. It's hard to drink when everything smells so bad. Still, usually the night is upstairs and I suspect it would smell better, so with the music pretty good and the nice crowd - that may be one for repeat business. Especially if I get to work from home again the next day.
Yeah I got nostolgic - got stuff on my mind, got distracted by other people's stories. Not in a bad mood at all, just kinda like staring at tv and going "wow." Sure I'm vague - I'm also tired, so sue me.
Soon I'll have buck rogers hooked up and never hear this screaming fan machine again.

The cavern has been around for quite some time.

I would very much like to see you. (understatement). It's been far too long. And I am looking for a bit of nostalgia, too. And maybe something new.

Oddly, possibly with a relative. No, not really.

In terms of beat matching/mixing. I enjoy a DJ who knows how to mix, but not one who puts the mix over song selection. Song selection and relevant dance floor transitions are far more important than the mix itself.

Agreed 100% on dj stuff.
