Gender roles!? When addressed with a complaint:
Men - propose a solution or course of action
Women - listen and empathize.
This is more or less the entire summation of that "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus" book that was popular a while back, if memory serves.
And I agree, people who kvetch as a hobby are a pain.
