When a Deputy goes nuts, it doesn't get press the same way a disaffected youth does. Why aren't there calls for better screening of cops? Isn't this like a smaller scale of the VA Tech shootings? Sexy headline sure, but where is the outrage?

Got to see transformers with friends last night - and homigod if you are one of the people who told me they liked it, grr. I think there were 30 minutes of good movie in there, but wading through the nerd gets the cheerleader away from the jock with his camaro? Ouch. PRODUCT PLACEMENTS MUCH!? More importantly, I'm spoiled. I've gotten used to smoke-free restaurants, bars, and clubs - and am not going back. There were just a few smokers in the movie last night, but I'm planning to skip smoke-friendly events from here on out. It's just too annoying. I had 2 drinks - neither of which affected the people around me (the wafting power of alcohol hardly makes you cough).

Holy shit my dad is off the ventilator. He's early in the rehab stages, and still has cancer, but is far more alive than a short time ago. Of course, that just means that someday I have to go through this again...

Great news about your dad.

Second-hand smoke rarely impairs a person's ability to operate heavy machinery after they leave, so drawing the alcohol-to-tobacco analogy may not be the wisest move, rhetorically speaking.

Oh it absolutely is, because I was affected by the smoke directly - while my heavy machinery affected no one. I do prefer the urine to smoke comparison though.
