I stand by the idea that babbling on LJ is not just a waste of breath. I watched the news and for some insane reason it hadn't occurred to me to donate until a couple people mentioned the idea or that they had...fucking duh, but I finally caught up a little. If this is your wake up call...

YAY! Good for you

I donated to Red Cross (IRF) & also to Doctors without Borders....I figure between the 2, they can hopefully get what they need to help people.

Doctors w/o borders fairs far better on administrative expenses

Red cross: http://www.give.org/reports/arc.asp
Funds to: Program 82%, Fund raising / admin 4% each, Increase in assets 10% (huh?)

Doctors: crap not listed...still the 82% isn't bad, but I think Doctors is a cool charity if my memory is any good at all. I gave them $bling$ this year already as a regular part of the routine.

The thing I really liked about the donation to Doctors was that I could be very specific that I wanted the money to go to the Tsunami disaster & they also have a chart that shows you exactly what $AMOUNT will do and they give reports of what/ how many supplies/ people are where

Unlike you, I was behind in my donation decisions this year & I usually give to much smaller foundations (Lupus, FOHA, etc.) This is my first time donation to Red Cross even.....
