I had one of the curable STDs, and when I went to my doctor for antibiotics she also ordered blood and urine tests to check for a bunch of other STDs. She didn't test for HPV or even mention it. At my annual physicals she never mentions HPV, never tests for it. It seems HPV is just so widespread, and the risk from it so small, that most people can ignore it. I think getting the vaccine when you are a teen -- before you have sexual contact with other humans -- cuts your lifetime cancer risk by about 1% if female, 0.2% if male.
