I'm not a runner, though I'm annoyed I suck at it. I thought perhaps my lifting and prowler torture would have some more crossover there, but no - my one recent 2 mile jaunt hurt and left me sore even though I went slow. You can only do what you do.
Meh, running is a super cheap and easy to work out. I'm not into it, but it's not something I'm going to rule out.
