This insomnia bullshit is killing me. No squirrels tonight.

Whomever told me that 8 mile did not suck, and there were several of you, will suffer horribly for the lies you have told me. I can watch some real crap, but I can't take more than 20 minutes of this abuse at a time. Worse - I have to watch everything through to the end...I think my soul is trying to crawl out of the room.

Yeah the "lyrics" are kinda lost on me. They're not catchy - some of the music is, but the whole movie is hardly articulate mumbling in dialect and the cliche sad mnm splashing his puppy eyes all over. Yawn. I just can't care.

Yo. 8 Mile does not suck if:
(a) you are from Detroit,
(b) you are from Michigan (other than Ann Arbor) and into hip-hop
(c) you have nearly finished a 6 pack of Mickeys befor ht emovie starts.

I barely made it through 10 minutes of emotive exposition somewhere in the middle, all of which would have been improved by a Gorgon being dropped into the mix.

I agree with Vijays FAIL assessment.

I know its hip and arty to dismiss commercially successful artists notably ones who came to be in the last two decades, even more so if they are from a genre which you do not align your tastes with.

I think 8 mile is a GOOD movie. Is it a great movie? No. But it is solid in the story it is attempting to tell and the nuances of life in that time period and location. It is done so in a simple manner so as to ensure comprehension but target audiences from a multitude of origins.

Your single sentence of "I think my soul is trying to crawl out of the room" is a worse analogy for a reaction to watching A MOVIE than any content in said movie.
