Oh dear

Returned to the house to find the 5 gallon bucket under the leaking valve overflowing; the drip was now rapid. HTF did that happen? When I left it the drip was practically imperceptible. I tried more pressure on the plastic valve (note - never fucking ever buy a valve that has any plastic parts) but to no avail. However, for reasons I absolutely cannot fathom, turning the valve itself - not the place the handle USED TO BE - but the joint where it connects to the copper pipe, made it drip less. Protecting my hand with a paper bag, I turned it reallyfuckinghard and managed to get it back down to an imperceptible drip again, even after cranking up the water full blast to the house. I _think_ it is fixed, and I'm in the home with all the windows open to dry out the floorboards - minimal damage and the only part of the basement that got wet was the utility room floor and the drywall ceiling of the bathroom.

Duct taping the exposed 2nd dryer vent worked like a charm; now the air from the dryer goes out the vent instead of in the other-dryer/basement.

My neighbors were making more than I realized, oh dear. They weren't making a deck or a screened in deck, but a full 2 story addition (and one of them told me the top is going to be a rooftop deck). They also may turn the stairs that go to the basement to create more (outside) storage space (why!?) No problem for me, but there is no way they got permits for that thing. If they ever want to sell it's going to be UGH LEE. It looks very solidly constructed though.

I haven't heard from the contractor. I need to reach out to him and have a discussion about whether/how to coordinate project(s). I'd rather work with one guy; I'd rather do this all at once, but I also think I should see his final products before spending another 50-100k.
