Got a flu shot today for free at work - ow and yay.
As much as I bitched about crappy dc radio, it started sucking less thanks to:
http://www.trueoldies1059.com/
It's now "the edge" which I think is a nationwide franchise, but they play redneck rock that I appreciate: ac/dc, zztop, jimmi, cult, judas priest, black sabbath, and some lighter stuff but still standable and pretty good to listen to for radio. Of course, you can't really enjoy the radio when there are no djs (it's clearly a shuffle play station) and you know if your demographic doesn't yield adequate ad revenue then they'll sell to the next one that does. But for now...redneck rock on the radio is good.
Chocolate at http://www.artfullychocolate.com/index.htm was wunderful fun. The guys that work there are great - nobody really seemed to do anything about the chocolate fountain but the owner was walking around giving out samples of marshmellowey chocolate (too bad I don't like marshmellows). I showed them my shirt and they sold me one of theirs for $6...it's LOUD, and I mean even for me it's LOUD. So Kirstin and I were leaving after talking forever over cocoa and a choco-cheesey plate, and noticed that the employees were dipping fruit in the fountain since nobody else was. They handed free fruit/chocolate to Kirstin (I'm not a fruit in my chocolate kind of guy - I'm more the fruit in your chocolate kind of guy). They are a great local place to hand your money - and the choco-goodness is very worth it even without the good politics. Check out the very good cocoas with star-names that absolutely fit the ingredients. I had a Rita Hayworth and a Lucy.
Tomorrow I have lots of high level meetings and in 3 days I will have spoken with 4 Asst. Administrators. It's a good thing, but I'm honestly looking forward to this all cooling down, working less, and being less in the big-time line of fire blah blah. Sometimes I miss the job making copies.
