People are still talking about speeches. Nothing is happening, no new information is being presented, but everyone who watches news is fascinated by how information is being presented. Last night I tried to listen to the radio on the way to the club, but many of my stations were playing feeds from the dem convention. Wanna have fun? Listen to the jazz station's (kill-whitey station as Kylla calls it) take on it. They were talking about the number of black people, whether they specifically mentioned abu or torture, and they were thrilled that Gore used the word murder.
My favorite duh statistic is that the anti-tax people are turned against Obama based on taxes? Of the two tax proposals, Obama's only increases taxes on people in the >200k bracket and cuts tax breaks for corporate america. Most anti-Obama based on taxes don't know that. McCain is essentially making a trickle-down argument about the effects of his tax cuts for the wealthy - a theory long since disproven through Reagan-Bush. Of course, the real issue is not the exec but the leg branch... The other funny idea is that Obama lacks experience. This from people who voted for Bush W, who had arguably less experience than Obama.
THE CLUB was kicked downstairs because upstairs, on U street remember, was having a huge Obama party. I LOVE the downstairs, with its stone cavern motif AND it didn't smell like it did last time! In fact, and it's odd to say this, I noticed the bathrooms were particularly clean-smelling. Whew! It seems people don't love the caverns, which blows my mind. I hear that as a short fellah I don't get the cramped feeling that others do with the low ceilings. I think the layout, decor, and even lighting are just ideal. There were a fair number of people there, not packed but not barren. Still, I left when I was about to get a drink, but a mysterious rain of water - the second pouring out in the bar area - started pouring into the garnish tray. Perhaps that cave motif went a little too far even for me.
